Term 3 Prayer & Study Focus
We turn to the OT Book of Judges
God's people are now in the Promised Land. This generation of ancient Israelites, a unified nation composed of 12 tribes, decide that their identity is deeply connected to God's promise and providence for them.
As the leader who brought them there passes away, a new chapter begins for the people of God. And as the next generation of God's people, their challenge is to establish themselves well into their new homeland.
What will keep them united, devoted, and focused? Is it their understanding of God's faithfulness throughout history, or will the lack of a central authority drive them toward self-interest and personal desires?
When individuals place themselves above all else, the internal decay born from self-interest presents a far greater threat to the common good than any external assault.
