2nd Friday Communion
Runs at 11am on the second Friday of every month
Second Friday Communion has been a quiet and steady joy in our church life since it began in March 2025. Each month we share in a simple 25–30 minute service, following either the Second or Third Order of Communion from the APBA, and keeping in step with the lectionary for our preaching. Over time this has taken us through the Psalms, the Torah, the Gospels, the Epistles, and the Prophets—short, unhurried services that hold together the richness of Scripture with space to pray, and reflect. And we certainly look froward to our singing; two songs each time, always including at least one treasured hymn.
Over the year we have now settled into a warm little gathering of five or six seniors. It’s become its own cosy fellowship, marked by familiar faces, gentle conversation, and again an unhurried cuppa and light lunch afterwards. The momentum has been slow and steady.
Second Friday Communion has also become a soft landing spot for those easing back into church life. We often meet people who tell us they’re keen to return but feel a little shy walking into a Sunday service. This mid-week gathering is the perfect “quiet carriage” setting—calm, welcoming, and wonderfully pressure-free.
If you’re looking for a gentle mid-week space to reconnect, or simply a peaceful moment in the month to rest in the Lord's word and the gentle fellowship of his saints, we’d love to see you. You’ll be very welcome!
